Also a BC owner and have had no issues with the base. I generally wax every 5 or so days and am usually faster than the skiers I ride with on the flats. I’m on a 159 and 5’8 190lbs if that helps.

I haven’t ridden the Rig but I’m tempted to demo one. The BC has been great for steep, open terrain and honestly has been an incredible daily driver + pow deck. It rips groomers, plows through chunder and for moderate pow days rides incredibly well. My only nit is I do find it slightly catchy in the tail once I get into tighter trees but it could also be more rider skill than board. Setting my stance back has helped, but if you’re riding tight trees consistently I might go with something that has more taper, like the Rig.

not a Rig or Banked, but on my Terrain Wrecker I never noticed anything out of the ordinary from the base.

I honestly felt more drag from the magnetraction in sticky snow conditions than the base itself

Tight tree rider checking in! I have a similar catchy tail thing with my Flight Attendant in the trees.

The Rig definitely rides shorter and softer than the BC. I bought an ex demo Rig 159 and ended up selling it again after riding it. It has much the same EE as the BC 159 but feels looser due to rocker in the tips. The 159 BC feels a bit much for me in some situations when I don’t just want to go straight and fast. I’d like a 157 too.

Overall the Rig is a great board but I found the soft tail disconcerting. See the video stills below for how it was flexing out on me when just turning. I guess I got used to really laying into the tail on the BC and that doesn’t work on the Rig. I could’ve gotten used to it if I’d ridden it more but it felt sketchy and that was in the dome. I was concerned it would not support me in more serious situations. It’s also possible I got an odd one as it was a demo board.

Aside from the tail thing I really liked it. Easy to ride, great pop, just felt at home on it immediately.

Is it just me or does that BC have the previous tail shape?

And maybe it's the photo, but the mag looks odd on the tail, especially the right side

Thanks @Kevington! Definitely funny that you're just power wheelieing like that. I'm not a big dude though so my 155lbs and stubby legs might not have the same issue, and riding decent snow more nowadays maybe I wouldn't be able to notice the looser tail so much 🤔.

Yeah funny, that's the same graphic I had but with the older tail shape by the looks of it. I wonder if it's the original stiffer construction with a sample graphic on it or something.

Was the older one supposedly stiffer? My friend has a 23, which feels a little softer than my 24, but the latter is a wide so that may not be fair.

I don't find his 23 to be stiff at all. Honestly strikes me as fairly mid flex, like 6/10.

Interesting, my understanding was that 2024 was the year they softened up a little.

The later year BCs with the blunted tail were definitely softened up over the first two years, and they intiate turns a little easier. The first two years with the spaded tail were noticeably stiffer overall. I"ve owned a Banked Country from every year and like both versions, although I kept the current year becauses it's a little easiser to manipulate, while still being aggressive enough. The version with the spaded tail is more of a freight train that can crush everything in your path at any speed, the blunted tail version is a little more fun at low to moderate speeds.
