How is the grip tech on Arbor boards? I just hinted to the family about getting me that Coda for my birthday since I need to retire about 3 boards and I could use something with decent edge hold for those firm groomer days.

The specs on the 155 look pretty good to me.

Briefly own a Crosscut, think I only rode it 2 days. Didn't really vibe with the shape of the board, relatively little EE and felt even smaller because of the Uprise Fenders. But had a generally positive impression of Grip Tech. Much less grabby and flowy better than the 5-bump full mag camber boards I've ridden.

Keep seeing Pat Moore's name associated with the Codas, and it's marked in 26 catalog as "Pat Moore Signature Model". Is "Candle" dead?

they revamped the Candle idea into an internal line instead of the separate Pat Moore line/brand it was initially marketed as. it's basically their "core" freestyle boards now:

No specific experience with the Coda, but from demoing some of their other models a few years ago, it's really good. It's effective and noticeable, without being a "grab a don't let go"-style tech. That, combined with their full camber profiles, make them really good for icy conditions. Probably my favorite edge tech behind YES' Underbite, for effectiveness-to-grabbiness ratio, so to speak.

Definitely hoping for some snow, but also just stoked to stretch the legs a little on longer runs than these NC ones haha. Think I'll either bring the Lib Rig or this new Coda I snagged.

Never rode it. It was an impulse buy because of the homie that's working for the brand. Sold it to a homie. Just been riding the Cardiff Lynx on the days I would have been riding it.

Remind released a new generation of insoles. I'm misplaced + wore out a couple, so I picked up an Otterstrom Cush (Yeti) and an Iguchi Medic (clusterfuck of animals on fire). Remind's website is consistently FUCKING TERRIBLE so I never really know what to expect until I get the insoles in-hand.

First impressions: super impressed with the Medics after a couple skate sessions, probably sending the Cush back without skating them. Medic is early candidate for best stock after-market insole I've ever used, comfy out of box and great impact absorption without compromising board feel. I like these enough that I might just use Reminds in my snowboard boots when my custom Superfeet wear out. Cush feels too all around soft for my tastes. Both are a little thicker than I'd prefer at 5.5 mm (compared to ~4 mm for Superfeet).

Below, previous generation Cush on left and new Cush on right. New releases are completely redesigned, previous ones are flat hard plastic frame with mostly foam. The new ones have a contoured plastic frame, with some sort of full length geometric urethane (?) layer. The edges are a little bit recessed from the geo layer, but couldn't tell the difference in skate shoes. The plastic frame is much firmer and overall more noticeable arch support.

New Cush and Medic seem to have the same shape, but different construction. The Medic has a more robust, thicker, full wrap plastic frame and is all-around firmer in every way.

I am REALLY digging the Medics... every insole I've owned in the past either optimizes towards feedback / support, or impact cushioning / crust dampening. The new Medic balances the two better than anything I've ever tried.

I haven't skated the Cush yet, just tried them on at home, I'll probably send them back. They're MUCH less supportive than the Medics, and less supportive than the broken in old Cush. The arch support completely collapses with minimal pressure from the hands, and just jumping around at home and testing pistol squats, it doesn't support as well.

Really pumped on the Medic, though. Only real complaint is this winter's art sucks. I usually like the vibe of Guch's psychedelic mountain art, but the flaming Tiger / Snake / Eagle vibe ain't working for me-- and that was the graphic I hated the least. But whatever, they sit in my footwear.
