Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, with no real rhyme or reason why I don't some days.

I had a big spill 4 years back where I slid out on an icy landing and smacked the back of my head into a chunk of ice. It cracked my Smith Maze and my occipital lobe took the brunt of it. I couldn't see straight for months, couldn't drive at night, had constant headaches, etc.

I'll probably always keep a Smith Maze around. They're so lightweight and low profile compared to anything else. Especially with the flappy ski dad ear pads taken out with a beanie underneath, I barely feel it.

I started wearing mine when my kid was born and since then (even without having had an accident)
when I forget it I feel like naked

always have a bucket on, have since day one when my mom made me, now it’s just my standard headwear on snow.

Hehe my kid is the same as he always saw me with a helmet on my head,he say he can't snowboard without, it doesn't even come to the idea, same for skateboarding or cycling

I have tried a few helmets over the years (smith, giro, anon) and I know I SHOULD be wearing it but have a bad habit of not. I don’t have a good reason on why I don’t wear one - I wear one for every other hobby I have. I see a lot of the rope tow kids wearing skate pro tecs these days but they are googleless maniacs.

With that being said, I don't use one.

Snow helmets in reality are over priced toys. They don't really offer any real protection against TBI's.

Helmet use has not correlated into a reduction of brain injuries.

They also feel messed up fitting, make my goggles fit weird, and make me run hot.

In agreement here.

IMO Skill is the best way to mitigate risk. It'll never be 100%. But reliance on a bucket to do the heavy lifting imo is out of proportion to their ability and their actual capabilities, which I think are much less than people believe them to be.

Imo the best approach is to use protective gear when there's a risk that is outside of the skillset. For instance I know my mtn bike skills require me to use a full face helmet. I know the risk of a motorcycle requires me to use a full face helmet. And I know that outside of a freak occurrence my skillset and situational awareness on a skateboard and snowboard are adequate for the risks I take.

edit: That said, obviously a lot of folks are unable to honestly and appropriately gauge their skill set, or their risk, and thus, the old better to have one and not need it than need it and not have it, may be the best approach for the general pop.

I absolutely always wear on on my motorcycle.

For my kids, their little brains are still developing and I need that to continue uninterrupted, so for their skill set, they're required to ride with a helmet.

Again, 100% agree with this situation for sure.

Time, place, and situations are unique. There is no 100% standard on who, what, when and where.
