The shape is different, looks like on the right version there's a larger tail, so different sidecut, so maybe they give it more setback to have you centered in the right spot on the radius of the bord, just my idea.

Setback is listed the same, and yeah, visually it looks like the contacts are just slightly further back along the tip to tail length, so maybe makes sense. Personally, I like the specs of the new one (mainly less taper) and the tail aesthetic, but I haven't ridden either.

On paper I prefer the bigger sidecut of the new one as well, but I also prefer the extra taper and more balanced nose and tail lengths of the old one for actually riding deeper snow. My memory is spotty at best but I swear the new one was a bit stiffer on snow as well, and being all of 152 lbs or so I preferred the ever so slightly flexier nature of the OG.

This is all an exercise in pedantry on my part though, I'm just gonna ride the new old one. Hopefully I gel with it after a few days, if not it'll end up on snowboard trader.

The reason I love the OG so much is everything with its specs.

It’s a 154 that has a shitload of EE. Like it has the same amount of EE as a Squash 59, and only 3cm less EE than the Squash 63 which is 9cm longer overall.

So, it rides on groomers and edge, much, much longer than it is. Then it’s decently wide, 26.0, without being crazy wide.

With 26mm of taper the ass just sinks in the pow and make it’s already short length ride so much shorter ( turning wise ) when in pow, that tail just releases in pow and let’s it turn like a ninja and effortlessly, but that 26.0 waist makes it have a pretty large amount of surface area and it floats like a deck so much longer.

Like I’ve ridden it on a 15-16” day of pure Utah blower and it was a dream. I’m 6ft and weigh about 165-170lbs.

Not only does it float, but at the end of the day you can take it into the tight Cottonwoods and Aspens to milk untracked pow, like a sub 150cm deck, but then you pop out on a groomer and it turns like a 160cm deck on edge, not only does the long EE rule, but the amount of camber and stiffness really let you rail it with no worries.

There’s also enough tail that you can ride it switch for sure, as with any deck with that amount of taper, you need to be on it, but it’s completely easy to ride switch if you’re someone who’s proficient with that skill set.

As much as I love it, it’s not a deck for everyone, for a 154, it’s pretty damn stiff. It has a butt load of camber that is not beginner or even intermediate friendly. It’s camber and long EE for sure would be rough on a long traverse or cat track for those beginners and intermediates. It also is not what I would call lively, it’s stiff and damp as hell. It’s not jib friendly, but boy does it slay chunder at the end of the day.

Like I‘ve said before, it’s ( for me ) the best deck I’ve ever had. Like I’m gonna call Easy Rider to see if they have anymore and have a 3rd for backup.

Your TF description is also what I love about the orbit 57, minus the taper since the orbit is very minimal. But - 124cm edge on a 57, 263 waist, stiff, medium sidecut, legit camber with a little early rise, floaty but works well switch.

At the time I went with the orbit, it was between that or a TF. Not saying they are necessarily similar in actuality, but both fit the category I was looking for. Ultimately I didn't want the 269 waist or heavy taper on my DD, but I'm always still tempted. There's a clean 57 on snowboard trader right now.

Fwiw I think you made the right call. Orbit is significantly stouter than the TF (at least the original TF).

Huh, wouldn't have thought it was too significant, but I do prefer stiffer, not that I think any Korua is lacking. Also just like the really mild taper for a DD.

Maybe I'll end up with the updated 57 some time, but pin tonic 64 might be my #1 now. I'd love to be able to try any of them first - maybe I can find a demo in Montana.
