BINDINGS
Re: BINDINGS
I suppose I should’ve said, “I attempted to repair quite a few of those.”

Re: BINDINGS
Yeah that’s my experience with them, too. Cable broke on both pairs and it took forever to get them repaired from K2. They had a recall if I remember right.dpartridge7 wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 3:46 pm interested to know how you found them as don’t know of anyone who had a pair. the only thing i heard was the cable would break.
Basically, it was a suuuuper thin steel braided line that would break near the attachment point on the toe strap.
Re: BINDINGS
understandably this would put most people off buying new innovations. i would like to say, i started the FASE project 8 years ago. the current iteration, me and jf have been testing for 6 years. also people from brand owners to pros to your regular boarder have been testing FASE for at least 3 years. i don’t have ownership of this technology anymore and am currently focus on future innovations for snowboarding. and part of that is finding out people’s opinions and reactions to new products. all you haters can shit on me....but it's not going to stop me reading people's comments and helping where people or open to it.eleveneightnate wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 4:28 pmYeah that’s my experience with them, too. Re: BINDINGS
Was more or less about to say this. And remember, Im a skeptic.dpartridge7 wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 3:52 pmi know i’ll get shit from some people for this. this is user error, which you will get with step-ons, supermatics and regular 2 strap bindings. the rider did not have the toe strap set correctly before entering the bindings on snow.
I've seen soooooooo much user error + outright stupidity on the mountain-- hell, in the world at large --that I'm not going to assign too much weight to one video of some rando struggling with new tech. This doesnt look that hard.
Re: BINDINGS
I admit I have zero interest in fast entry, but I'm curious about a couple things that would pertain to me.
One - I'm a big fan of skate tech, and regular bindings are effectively a no-go for me now. I've tried. Is there any plan to implement it on those bindings in the future?
Two - Thoughts on how the system works for people who run their toe strap over the top? A cap-strap position can "catch" the boot toe, but I'd imagine an OTT strap would be an issue. Seems like it would have to be loose enough for the boot to go under/through it, which negates not having to ratchet.

skate tech does work with FASE. all the proto's i built were with skate tech. the people who own FASE decided skate tech could be offputting and may hurt potential sales. this decision has nothing to do with their belief in skate tech. whether it gets used in further versions of FASE, is not my place to say, nor do i know.
FASE will not be for everyone. so if having the toe strap over the boot is a priority, buy a regular 2 strap binding. but DCP has tried FASE and normally rides with his toe strap over his boot, said to jf that he didn't mind the FASE toe strap. at this stage, I don't see a way for it to work properly with the toe strap over the boot. if anyone has any ideas, i would love to hear them.
the way the boot squeezes into the FASE binding automatically tightens the toe strap. i would say victor de le rue would run his toe strap very tight and therefore kicks his boot in, as casjcade has commented on.
Re: BINDINGS
Thanks - makes sense not to do a phase + skate tech binding right out of the gate.
Toe strap musings... maybe OTT would require a little ratcheting, but you still don't have to align the ladder and ratchet every time. Not that doing so is an issue, but it keeps the easy one-handed nature of the system intact. I often do mine one-handed as it is, and that would make it easier.
Another simplification I see is what hinged sliders are shooting for. They aim to keep your straps out of the way so you can easily step into your binding, but I find them annoying, because they flop around. You still have to move them out of the way, and you still have to put them back in position once you step in. Fase avoids the need to move your straps altogether.

Re: BINDINGS
jf is testing with pro's who have preferences with their toe strap that aren't common. may never be able to satisfy everyone with FASE...but we are trying. we could do what you are suggesting here for alternative models, but wonder if there would be enough interest, as a lot of people are already commenting, that what is the point when you are saving so little time. then again, if we find enough pro's and advance rides requesting this, it could happen.Spenser wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 7:41 pm Thanks – makes sense not to do a phase + skate tech binding right out of the gate.

i am not as flexible as when i was young. so when going snowboarding with my kids, i would take longer to strap in than them. they would constantly complain. once i got the FASE working, i would be ready in half the time they took.
Re: BINDINGS
Maybe I missed it, but what's the deal with forward lean and the highback system? On my drives, my rear highback is maxed.
Re: BINDINGS
sorry, i don't understand the question. are you asking about FASE or NOW., and what exactly is your query about?Spenser wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 8:07 pm Maybe I missed it, but what's the deal with forward lean and the highback system? On my drives, my rear highback is maxed.
