Had those exact boots. They were pretty nice, but I think I ended up running the Judges that season instead due to comfort/flex like you said.

That's a bummer. Hopefully the program expands in the coming seasons to some mid-flex boots.

Since I’m finding my Burton Photons pretty comfy and better fitting than the 32s I’ve been in for years I am considering a set of Tourists. I’d have to order them though since nowhere local has them to try on. Is it safe to assume that an 8.5 in both boots fit similarly?

Echo is stiffer than Dialogue.
I know it says that on the website, and maybe you feel strongly about it, I don't know. I have both, used the Dialogue the most, and it still feels stiffer.

The one I have first hand experience with is that Photons fit similar to Rulers, but I read here at some point that the Ions fit different than Photons. So who knows? 🤷🏻‍♂️

In the shop Ions and SLX “fit” similarly to the Photons but the liner was definitely “nicer” feeling. Not sure how that translates in the real world…..

I just looked at the Ions, and remembered why I didn't include them in my recent batch of boots to try. $650 for boots is insane.

Dialog SJ Lace in hand for trying out. Going a half or full size down in dialog (from other boots) is the key forsure. On first impressions I really like the SJ heel lock/lace combo. Though I find Salomon liners have very little "J Bar", they are very soft and not pronounced. That's easily solved with some foam, but peculiar IMO. As well is how high the liner cinch is above the SJ strap. Hmmm.
My problem if I keep these is they are so low profile, they won't work with my current binding lineup, at least not an ideal fit. Invado pro incoming as well, Vans seem to have a much bigger profile generally speaking. I'm also a guy with very picky and weird feet, maybe just sticking with something soft and forgetting about it is the right call. (Longing for the days of Kaijus)

Maybe depends on the need. Imo they're basically a basic insole replacement. At least, I didn't think mine were anything extra or premium over what comes with most boots.

Wet day in Tahoe today, rode my Ride lasso pros that I got at the start of last season. My socks were completely soaked after about 3 hours of shred. Not sure where the water got in but I'm pretty bummed. I like the boots overall and don't wanna buy new ones.
