BINDINGS
Re: BINDINGS
Is the ankle strap mounted any higher on the baldface/falcor? Tried the Atlas and hated the ankle strap digging in the top of my foot. Kind of a deal breaker IMO
Re: BINDINGS
I wouldn't be the one to answer that question, Unions are not my forte. In fact this is only the second pair I've owned and it's been 10-12 years since the last set that I had.Dave T wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 1:37 pm Is the ankle strap mounted any higher on the baldface/falcor? Next thing we know @pow_hnd will be touring on a Jones with Union split bindings...
Re: BINDINGS
While I definitely think the hanger design is one of the benefits I feel, I totally agree about the binding itself. Love the higher heel cup, and the damping. I was actually thinking yesterday, it would be interesting to try the same binding without skate tech. Not because I think it would be better, but to isolate the difference skate tech makespow_hnd wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 9:43 amSkate Tech isn't what did it for me, it was the higher heel cup that put the ankle strap in the perfect place for me, and the incredible dampness. Obviously I wasn't that enamored with them, I changed all the straps to Burton to make them good.jota wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 2:23 ambut where did skate tech go???pow_hnd wrote: Fri Jan 10, 2025 7:06 pm
They are fucking incredible. Like it made my snowboard ride better kinda incredible. They are the new Falcon base plate with Strata highbacks.
I was so in awe of them. After a brief discussion with Jeff, home I came with a pair.

Capita/Union
Re: BINDINGS
The new Falcor strap is super comfy. Definitely less rigid than the current Atlas strap, but plenty of coverage and support.
a bit of taper, a lot of camber
Re: BINDINGS
As they were a gift, they will go up on the memorabilia wall when I'm done with them.Jean77 wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 2:01 pmDibs if you ever decide to sell thosepow_hnd wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 1:42 pmI wouldn't be the one to answer that question, Unions are not my forte. Re: BINDINGS
Speaking of frankenbindings. Have ya'll ever used EST toe tongue on Reflex? The EST doesn't have the half rounded plastic at the end; it clicks into reflex but has a bit of room where that rounded plastic would sit.
Just wondering if I'd run into any issues using the EST toe tongue, or if I should just purchase the regular toe tongue for $2 each on B.com. I've been trying to go back to straight ladders and buckles for the same reason pow_hnd ran into. Was stuck once in DT and now I don't bring that pair on any major trip.

Re: BINDINGS
Okay people that know Union. What are the real life differences in base plate/tray from Med to Lrg in Unions?
Are they wider?
Longer?
Wider and longer?
I assume it's captain obvious that the straps are longer.
Also is there no difference in high backs between sizes? In Unions online store for highjacks it lists them as OSFA, but then in other components, such as straps, etc, etc, there are different sizes.

Re: BINDINGS
as someone who is perpetually between M/L(size 11), I use medium solid, large on a split because of the difference in ski mode for stride length. I hate space on the sides of the boot, and Large unions definitely have less lateral space then Large on burtons, so I think most of the size gain is length. With all that said I haven't measured so I'm not sure if that's helpful or not. When I get back from BC in a couple of weeks i can measure everything, unless someone else answers before hand.
