Buy my super doa. It’s perfect for snowboarding.
One thing I do know for sure is I will never buy a snapita
I’ve broken more Burtons than any other brand. You’ve made it hard to want to help you.
I think he got lost on his way to EZ from r/Snowboarding
He sounds like a lot of the morons over there. Its easy to love EST binding “tech” when youve never ridden mini disk, skate tech or anything other than slider track junk
Speaking of buying boards on a whim, just stopped in my local this morning and they had a banker 56 demo ridden twice for $250. You best believe I picked that bad boy up on my way to the mtn. Got to ride it on a slushy, warm, rainy day at loon just now and it’s way more playful than you would think, not nearly as stiff as it is branded, supper poppy tail, good side cut, just a smidge of setback and taper. I had a blast on it. For the record 5’10 190lbs 9.5 vans high standards.

I’m gonna disagree with the masses here and say you absolutely do not need to be a high level rider to review snowboards for the majority of people who are actually checking YouTube for reviews. As long as they can give me something beyond specs, I’m stoked, and you take it with a grain of salt. I’ll add that anyone with the cajones to put themselves out there on YouTube has my respect, especially those who are trying to make a living because that shit is not easy.
As soon as you bring ego into the picture, it just doesn't fly. I think that's the bottom line for me. This is why angry is the only one receiving our criticism. It's not simply "are you good enough to share your opinion."
Yeah for me he's just a character as much as any other person putting themselves out there so I guess I don't get so jumped up about it. Ego in social media is nothing more then a defence mechanism for his business. His reviews are his product. I get where you guys are coming from though!

Hey, fair enough, and part of my take certainly aligns with yours. I'm not hung up on the guy, but he's pushed well past the point where I have any reservations talking a little shit within our tiny corner of the Internet

I don't really watch Kevin either, but he leaves himself out in the open. You know how he rides, you've seen any progression, etc. Maybe he doesn't explicitly come forth with the fact that he gets paid by Clew to ride them, but whatever. He seems like a nice guy.
And while it's not that I specifically care about reviews, I do like watching content. I think TJ does a really good job, and is also fully transparent. His riding level is surely enough to hold weight in the industry, and they're individual to each board, as opposed to churning out repetitive bullshit. But of course, the angry cult finds a way to dismiss him. Main thing that comes to mind is multiple comments saying he's too positive, and never really critical of a board. Pretty sure that's a whole lot better than some dude upholding a nonsense facade & persona, saying the same thing about every product, who can't back it up.
Totally agree. Kevin seems like a nice guy, and if you haven't seen his videos on India check them out. Really sick terrain and unique snowboarding travel experience. After a really horrible car crash two years ago that almost took me out, I think my third-world country risk taking is over. It's nice to see it in video because I won't be doing it anymore personally. When you realize that you may have only made it because your serious injuries occurred close to a first-world hospital, it shifts your perspective.

I've said it before, but I'd rather watch 10 high quality, long-form, footage-laden reviews from TJ per season than 100 reviews from Angry generically saying "you're not gonna have to worry about it" for every single data point on every board.
If Angry rides 100+ days a season like he claims, it would be impossible for him to A) not progress, and B) not want to film that progression and share it with people because it feels good and also backs up his credibility. The "i don't have time" thing is likely just a coput for his lack of ability and associated lack of riding. I truly don't believe he rides all of those boards and bindings because everything he says about them is so generic and formulaic. Anyone can stand in front of a camera and say "it does snowboard things" and "it's middle of the road" and get away with it with the masses.
Side note: the best snowboard vlogger is still Liam Stevens IMO.
Totally agree. TJ is a fantastic reviewer and solid rider.

I wholly agree with the sentiment that you don't have to be particularly skilled to have an opinion and share what you think of a product. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. That would be like me talking about bikes. But if I acted like a dick for years, pushing the "I know better than everyone" persona, and essentially telling anyone who questions me to fuck off, you would probably want to know if the guy with thousands of reviews and a large cult-like following has any credibility, who you've never even seen use the products.
As soon as you bring ego into the picture, it just doesn't fly. I think that's the bottom line for me. This is why angry is the only one receiving our criticism. It's not simply "are you good enough to share your opinion."
To be clear, if any of the other prominent reviewers were to develop an ego - even though they show themselves riding in every video - they would also receive criticism. At least they wouldn't be running a facade.
I totally agree. You don't have to be more than a high intermediate to be a good reviewer; that comes more with consistency and methods. As someone says previously, I respect TGR for the grind and can usually get a decent idea of how a board is going to ride from their content...
Angry's schtick means he should be backing up his attitude with ability, and from those two shared clips he is wooden and not that great. I get that it's his persona he has cultivated, and I don't like it, but you gotta be a ripper of you're going to act like that or everyone will just think you're a kook. He probably doesn't put out riding footage because of that.

I think the Banker 159 might be my favorite board. need to find something similar in a 162-ish size. the HPS Louif 163 looks like it could be close, but might be a touch softer.
