Amplid Snowboards

I've seen a lot of talk about them in other threads, but with the limited release of the 20, I figured I would start a thread.

I'm probably not buying it, because money, but I'm sure it's going to be amazing.

I've owned or ridden most of their line over the last seven seasons. Great boards.

I'm very close to grabbing a Kill Switch or Morning Glory. All of the boards in the future shapes collection look intriguing.

I've been eyeing the Psychonaut after learning about it recently. Seems really close on paper to what I like, but some of the copy on the webpage for the board kind of confuses me. "Best of twin-ish powder performance" doesn't sound like what I'm looking for in a directionally shaped board with 8mm of taper and 10mm setback? It's got an "inward shifted sidecut" for "cranky turns" but it's also 8.7m radius?

It doesn't help that my only Amplid experience was a Surfari 157 and I just didn't like that board. I wish I could demo the Psychonaut somewhere though.

I've ridden the Kill Switch and the Singular and both were meh. Couldn't wait to get off them both. Oh, I did like the Surfari though, but would only like it for freeriding and no sidehits. But since sidehits are awesome I would never get one.

I want to try the Pyschonaut too as most of the future shapes boards were too wide for my 8.5 boot for anything outside of pow or carving (I don't mind wide boards at all in those situations). It's one of the first ones that "fits" me. I will say that my first Amplid was the Surfari 157 and it rocked my world. Totally the gateway drug board to trying a ton more boards over the next five seasons. Amplids have a "feel" that's a bit different than other brands IMO, so if you didn't like the Surfari they may just not be for you.

I think the Surfari is a great all-mountain ride if you're looking for something stiffer, but again, to each their own.

I boost sidehits on my Surfari, but I will agree that a torsionally softer board is definitely better for them just to maneuver easier into those tighter, bumpy and sometimes off-camber run ins. The Surfari is a great carver but definitely more of a freerider.

Anyone ridden a dada? Seems like a good rad dad board; easy riding enough to go slow with the kids but versatile enough and enough backbone to charge around on when you take some laps on your own.

Yeah, it's a solid deck if the sizing works for you. I only have 8.5 boots so it's a bit wide (275mm waist) for me. I got it out in a two foot pow day at snowbasin and it was a BEAST. If you have bigger boots, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up.

The only future shapes board that truly works for me spec-wise (in resort) looks to be the newly released psychonaut, but I haven't had an opportunity to test yet. I've found that on a groomer or in pow I can handle super wide boards, but when it starts to get tracked or you're doing anything except just carving, low 260mm is my limit.

Ive owned ten of their boards, but I had a buddy who essentially bought whole catalog after trying the Surfari so I got to try out most of them.

If anyone has any questions about any of them let me know and I can share my experience. There's only a handful I haven't put through their paces.
