Thanks. Super excited to put some time in on my horizon 59 this year, hopefully it doesn't tempt me into a cadet as well

Just got word that I should have my cadet 62 soon.

Also came here to say that since I'm getting a full refund on the pencil, and I'm likely selling my Land Cruiser parts truck this evening, maybe I should pick up a deep reach. So I looked around for a 59 on sale, found one, and was going through the checkout process to get a shipping cost… and accidentally hit submit payment. And I think I'm just going to run it. So there's that.

Same flex rating as cadet, so hopefully it's essentially the same on snow. My other hesitation was also being told that the nose rise starts 3" earlier, which I don't exactly want, but @Shredder's photos two pages back were confidence inspiring. At any rate, it can't have a softer nose than the Shorty, and it looks like definitely less rocker.

Nice one! @spenser bummer about the Korua. You’ll be riding your deep reach before I do, be good to hear your thoughts. I got mine from Blue tomato at a pretty decent price.

Although I definitely like Korua, US is the board company I'm most attracted to, and I was stoked on the new DR as soon as they released it. I just want a "normal" sized pow board... don't always want the length of my hammerhead 71.

Pretty slow start here so far. We're too far north of the big storms that have been hitting Oregon and Washington. It's still rock board season in my opinion, although safe to split up top.

I picked up my Cadet at the end of last season and put about 10 days on it, but only in soft spring conditions. I've got three days on it this season so far, riding it in Maine and NH along with the other boards in my quiver that I love, and I can say without hesitation at this point that for me the Cadet is the best snowboard I've ever owned. Mine does currently have a spectacularly good tune on it which I'm sure helps (I did it myself after watching Lars's tutorial for the second time).

But for me the Cadet is pretty much the end all be all, I can't imagine any conditions or terrain that it wouldn't excel in, LOVE it... It's no jib kid board or park board, but for freeride, all mountain, powder it's unreal. I just love how it turns and how lively it is. It's a do-everything killer for sure and just so fun, but it totally can handle it if you just want to put the hammer down.

I've said it before, but I'm pretty sure it's been my favorite silhouette in all of snowboarding since the day it came out.

Even though I know it would be fine, part of me is scared to take a bunch of files to a brand new board 😜 but I've successfully done it on two decks now, with the sidecut kit Lars recommends. I'll consider it.

I've got the Sidecut kit too, and I followed Lar's cues to the letter, the edges are just flawless now and it's very evident in how the board handles, I couldn't be more pleased. I've always been a bit of a tune snob and we have local guys around here that do a great job, which is why I'm surprised that the result I got on my own turned out even better than the pros.

And as for US, that Deep Reach is really calling my name too.

As much as I'm a nerd, I've never been into tuning. I just run factory edges and have never had a problem. But at this point in my love of carving + 14 years of Lars friendship, I think it's probably a case of not knowing what I'm missing.

yep Cadet is the best all-around board I've owned

looks like TGR and SA both put it in their top 5 free ride boards this season... it's interesting that this version of the board has already been out for 2 seasons already though, so its not really new

I have a 154 and a nos 158, was gonna sell the 158 but thinking of just keeping it

US seem like freestyle riders freeride boards, well equipped for the movie and contest scene. Bit plain for more than one board for me. If I didn't have a similar board, I would try one.
