This roster is comically excessive for someone who's ridden 3 days so far this season and likely won't clear 10... and who's basically only ridden the Aeronaut, with 2 quick test laps on the Free Thinker.

Top pic is the "core" quiver, boards I plan to keep:
  • Moss Swallow 62
  • Capita Aeronaut 161
  • K2 Instrument 163
  • Burton Hometown Hero Split 162
  • Dupraz D1 6+ (178)
Bottom pic is mix of stuff I plan to sell, haven't made up my mind about keeping, or is on the sacrificial lamb rock board roster:
  • Salomon 6 Piece 155
  • Santa Cruz Decal 3 160
  • Burton Free Thinker 160W
  • Rome Blur 162
  • Weston Backwoods 163 Split
  • Burton Custom 170W

Plan going into the season was to sell the 6 Piece and Decal, and no new boards. But the Decal's been listed for a couple months with no takers (might have better luck with better snow), I was too lazy to list the 6 Piece with the Decal not moving, and then I picked up the FT + Custom stupid cheap. The Backwoods I'm keeping in reserve in case I hate the Hometown Hero.
I should do a sorting like this… I have a really hard time getting rid of boards.

I'm tired of getting boards just to get rid of them after a couple rides because I like what I already have more. The boards are good, just generally not good enough that I'm excited to ride them more than with I have. Pretty sure line up of regular riders at the moment is all 2019 or older... and I've sold every board I've bought brand new for the past 4 years. I need some demo days to come to my area. But if I got to demo some and found something sick, I'd for sure add it to my queefer.

Just the other day I started to look at an Orca out of desperation. lol.

what i currently have that is actually ridden these days:

- '23 Korua Transition Finder 154
-'22 Burton Hometown Hero Split 162
- '21 Burton Deep Thinker 160 (early season/late season)

i had started spending most of my days last year on the aero 161 after february, then proceeded to break it in april in the backcountry.

thinking of replacing it with:

-Gnu Banked Country 59 or 62
-Lib Jamie Lynn 59
-another aeronaut 61 or maybe smaller
-k2 alchemist 60
-maybe also a burton custom '62, that 8.2m radius interests me and i absolutely love how my genesis est's feel on a board (currently on the DT), probably my favorite binding ever

it's rather unfortunate to break a 700 dollar board with less than 20 days on it, but the aero was such an excellent deck.

With an orca and a step on you already break it 😂😂

the reality is that I always try to go towards very different things or concepts and I like that point of test, going from an FA to a HTH is IMO nothing in the end for me, those changes don’t bring me much when what you have, works well, but when you go to totally different things it is great because you may like it but the good thing that you already had before is still great.

I speak, but I know that you already know this 😉

Hah... Me with with an orca and step ons... can you imagine!? the horrors! How would anyone even be able to tell how core I am?

I agree. Its fun when there's something really different to try. Then there are bigger ah-ha moments. Like the first time riding the Bfish in steep and deep... the 420s float in even a few inches... Anything with bamboo siderails. I'm sure there are mind blowing boards but apparently they're not catching my attention, or else they seem so similar to what I have and love that its hard to justify buying it or it's doesn't feel very exciting. It's also way more fun to buy cool weird shapes which are usually more freeride/pow oriented... and well, we haven't had much of that for several seasons. I sold my Signal Tailgunner before I even rode it because we just had no snow worth getting it out for. Fingers crossed this season brings the goods. Otherwise it'll be another season of just running up and down the bunny hill with whatever kids and beginners I can get out each weekend.

These boards are the ones I'm planning to keep at least at the start of the season. Still thinking of culling it down to maybe 4-5 boards.

Bubo 154, Sickstick 163, Falc 161, Pluv 159, Buteo 162, Bullet Train 160

These boards are going away this season. I enjoy the Pencil Plus, but it hardly get any time and for normal conditions I have boards I enjoy more. The Horizon is a great board but not what I was looking for I think. Bought the Sickstick to replace it. The Puls was sort of a comedy buy because it was cheap and I thought I'd trick my son into riding it instead of his skis. Turned out I enjoyed riding it myself...

Bubo 150, Puls 152, Horizon 159, Pencil Plus.

Obviously orca + step on for you was a joke 😂😂🤷🏻‍♂️

On the other hand, this was exactly the point why I wanted to try step on because I no longer have boards in my sights, there is nothing now that catches my attention. I already have
Classic Camber
Camber tapered
S rocker
v rocker
Flying v
C2
Flat tapered
Pure pop
Long, short, wide, pointed noses…
Long, short, narrow tails, …
Soft, hard, medium cores…
In fact, last year I even ended up turning my sights towards twin boards…

That’s why I think about step on, I think that just as we look for a better response in skate tech, step on can contribute something in that direction… they say that Jake wanted these bindings to not only be something automatic but bindings with a different behavior or response… that calls my attention even because as Fawcett says you turn without pulling the straps up and since you don’t have the straps on your boots, I think that it could end up generating a sensation quite similar to surfing… Maybe it’s just a desire to try new things.
I remember when B toe straps came out over the tip of the boot, a friend said to me: do you know that feeling of holding a long frontside and not being able to do it on the backside? Well now you can do it… That change, opened up a path of enjoyment for me that has never ended and I wonder if now step on can open up some new path… or not…

As someone who started riding in the mid-2000s, and only got into nerdy gear stuff in the late 2010s, this was a fantastic history lesson, hahaha.
