Nothing against ski brands that have been contributing since early days and have paid some of the greatest riders of all time. This just doesn’t sit right. It feels so futile.

We turn a blind eye to lib's transgressions because we know they use the wood too shitty to make snowboards with, to make the skis. They also don't wash their hands after the bathroom when pressing em, and pop boogers into the epoxy.

Actually, I think it's because it's a snowboard company subverting the skiers instead of skiers subverting snowboarding.

I stopped believing snowboarding had a core when Nike and adidas we're given such a hearty warm welcome after bailing numerous times before under the lame justification that they were comfey, and supporting pro boarders in lean times and they 'mean it' this time. Some folks would pepe le pew right back to them if they started up again.

Meanwhile an OG pioneer of snowboard boots like Northwave gets nose wrinkles from folks when they're making some of the best boots out there (imo).

i woult try (again) northwave boots if i could find them somewhere.

last pair i bought was 23 years ago and havent seen them since.

and just and fyi to all ya is i would wear wallmart boots if they fit me well i couldnt care less about the brand if i can get a good fitting boot.

My first new set up was a K2 fat Bob with K2 clickers and Deelux/Raichle boots to match.
Coming off a very beat up Burton Floater it was magical.
I will always have a soft spot for ski brands. Salomon is making some of the best boards out there. the word I would use to describe them is “lively”.

Agreed. Pretty much every Salomon board I've had has the flex dialed and rides exactly as they describe it. They feel super predictable like you've been on them forever.

Has anyone tried the B backseat driver or the throwback or the k2 tree splitter? (Yes… i’d said K2 ) I'm thinking of something to have fun with the kids when the lifts close. Can these work on hard snow?

It's because they originated as ski brands, and some people won't let that go.

No, it's because at the end of the day they are still run from the top down by skiers.

Mervin is different because it's an OG snowboard brand, with snowboard roots, which supports snowboarding and has done a lot for it, and then they chose to make skis later. Totally different scenario.

This 100%. Run by snowboarders, who happen to make a few skis as well.

I had a backseat driver but never got to really ride it before selling. Quality wise - it’s great, shape, edges, etc. It is SOFT though, which might be a good or bad thing depending on terrain. I think it would be fine in slush at lower speeds too. In regards to hard snow, I’d say all of those are bad options haha. If it’s firmer, I’d get a Hovland.

I haven't ridden them, but the Tree Splitter is a piece of plywood without any edges, the Backseat is basically normal snowboard construction with edges.
