I feel the same way about midlife crisis, I’m considering going to gauntlet style mitts instead of under the cuff.
I've been wearing gauntlet mitts for years. Clearly I'm a lost cause, save yourselves before it's too late.

Gauntlet mitts are the longer ones over the cuff? Cos if it is, love my Volcom x Longo ones, think they're great for both function & aesthetic aspect imo.

And lol it could be a generation thing (in my later 30's now = millenial?), but I also like the look and functional benefit of the elastic cuffs on the bottoms, though I've yet to find one that fits me the way I prefer. Still have to resort to folding the bottom of my pants until I find one I like.

Boot gaiters with a hook and boots with a boot with a gaiter hook solves that issue. My bibs and boots both have these, so it’s a non issue

coleslawed wrote: Sun Oct 06, 2024 4:22 pm i love my elastic cuffs. never have to worry about getting them out of the way of my straps/highbacks, or dragging in the dirt in the lot. don’t see myself going back to regular legs anytime soon.
I am looking for pants with elastic cuffs and hopefully no gaiters for many years already, hopefully this trend will grow big enough to be able to buy some even from Finland. Airblaster is not really available here and I found Volcom's Arthur Longo pants only at the end of last season, when my sizes was gone in Europe. Also some Burton was available for short moment, but again, I missed it. :)

Also putting GoreTex or similar membrane in all closes seems ridiculous at least looking from Finland, while most of the winter is cold and dry. I have Burton [ak] Helitack GORE jacket, witch is very warm and thin, but putting membrane in such jacket which cannot be worn in any wet conditions (too warm) is ridiculous waste of my money and natural resources.
longos are good but beyond medals park pants are pretty nice too, they have gaitors but just dont use them.

Thank you for good tip, and available in Finland, although still 2h drive from me. :)

Seems that this trend is growing, several high-end models available from Burton with elastic cuffs now, although high end price point sounds crazy to me 840€ Acamar bibs and 890€ Kalausi bibs.

in my experience the gaiter stays down but the pant leg hikes up or folds.

Thanks, now it is not only easy even for me to find pants with elastic cuff, but a lot to choose from. 8-) Already found and ordered Airblaster, because wanted those for many years, now need to decide what to get additionally from so many new to me options. :)

Snagged a used Burton Treeline jacket for $100. Some initials thoughts:
  • Impressed with the face fabric and overall burliness of it. I've never had a 3L Gore Tex piece before and this one seems super durable.
  • The fit is perfect. It's a large and slightly wider and longer than an AK large.
  • Love the drop tail.
  • Wrist gaiters, two-way main zipper, and a zip out powder skirt!
  • The hood is massive.
  • Pockets and vents are well thought out. The big interior pockets seem like they'd be great for skins/goggles.
