The Horizon isn't soft enough to be a play around board for me and the tail is too catchy. Im just too noobish riding freestyle. I want a bit more rocker and lift in the nose and tail and I realized I wanted a softer ride for this.
I'm kinda looking for that Goldilocks board that has directionality (some taper, a bigger nose with a good amount of rocker, a decent amount of setback if I need it, etc) while still being fun to butter, press, and mess around with while my girlfriend transitions from skiing her whole life to learning to snowboard. Love the Horizon's shape, but it's just way stiffer than I was anticipating for some reason (I thought this about the Passport, too). I also snagged a Navigator because it satisfies all that on paper, but it's the opposite: crazy soft. I have the Gril Master in my sights at this point.

Nate - any chance you’ve ridden a Rome Ravine or Sims UAP? I really liked both for general bafoonery and one-board riding. Wish I still had a ravine

I've always wanted to check out the Ravine! It seems right up my alley and people seem to love them.

It's true that you use wide boards 🤦🏻‍♂️ but this Barracuda is so beautiful... I had to show it

Remember when those were absolutely normal widths? I was on a lot of 246-249 burtons years ago. My first "wide" was 257 😂

I seem to recall the original barracuda being a bit of a dud in the people's eyes (including mine), but many years later the board and its formline art seemed to have a bit of a resurgence.

But let's talk about the board on the other side of the malolo - the piranha

They had some real nice reissues. I picked up Elite 150 and Fish Camber 160, and they are great. The Elite holds amazing, and almost launches out of tight turns. I think the flat Mod Fish was better than Barracuda/Piranha/Wave Tracer, so not that bothered. I like the 530 stance on the 157 cuda, would be nice if they kept the 530 up until that size range on most boards.
