Not sure if it's out yet (I'm on the road with spotty cell service). I never want to come off like I care who says what about board xyz, but it's interesting, and I just wish he would show his riding. For the millionth time, I maintain there's a reason he avoids it
I'm assuming you are talking about Angry.
It is strange that no one needs to see his riding to take his word.
I agree there is a reason he avoids it.
Could this exist in any other sport?

Don't they? Aren't there other amateurs doing youtube reviews of anything and everything?

On one hand his skill doesn't matter bc it's as good as any other internet review of any board. Mine included. fukkin reddit has a billion turn skidders chiming in on shit they clearly don't know about. (the rider in black and the blackboard experiment being a tiny exception). But most folks aren't really qualified and just kinda talk what they ride or what the marketing tells them or what they think makes them sound smart.

It's always kinda been the blind leading the blind and the brands are really okay with that because if they get good reviews it's just additional marketing for them, and if they get a bad review they can dismiss it as just some dorks opinion.

Could be why the blackboard experiment died. No brand wants to come in on the bottom with a pro level rider with real clout on one of their flagship boards.

EZ folks maybe have credibility among others here bc we've been sniffing each others posts for so long we know they're not fully shit.

More than anything it's annoying that Angry gets taken seriously by anyone because of who he is. If he had the same skill level but was at all a personable and likeable guy, probably wouldn't be so irritating.

A friend of mine made a really good review about some running shoes and the brand got upset. They want you to say generic things, so that anyone can buy their product based on its appeal, not its function, and they don't want that review to limit the product to only those who are looking for something specific.

Anyone can make a generic review on YouTube.

Youtube is garbage (except lars and some other things)
EL is a gift.
C2 & purepop/vans infuse/skate tech/ AK …

EL is certainly a gift.

Agreed that the review world is interesting.

Lars is incredible. I feel honored to have known him in real life as long as I have.

I simply think it would be reasonable for all prominent "reviewers" to show themselves. You can become good at tapping into the "review" market without having any skill relating to the gear you talk about. Or you can be a novice, who is honest about their ability, and give an excellent review! Most of us are novice in everything we do.

We know who I'm talking about, but I'm not going to say it. I've seen this person say multiple times in comment sections, when prompted, that they don't have time to get video clips. Oh, but you have time to do all this other shit? Isn't this your "brand?" If you really ride 100+ days a year, you'd think there might be a shred of evidence once in a while. And damn, if the only evidence online is pretty bad, you'd think you might want to show otherwise. Could be as easy as ONE clip on ONE day, any season. Literally just one.

It does trip me out just how blindly many people follow this person. I'm not proud that I think about this at all, but 🤷‍♂️

This is why I like TJ's reviews, on BoardArchive. At least there's plenty of evidence that he's a good rider. Unfortunately, I don't think he's ever said anything negative about a board. Which might be very good to cozy up to brands, and maybe technically true from the POV that there are really no "bad" boards from the big brands anymore. But as someone who's been absolutely underwhelmed by certain decks, saying only nice things about the products also makes your entire approach to reviewing a little iffy, to me. Just like if you don't post your riding, lol.

Ah, the Snowboard Robot method  I kid, I kid. I actually like Lachy and his reviews. I think he has a similar feel for boards than what I have, but from the reviewers I trust and I've seen ride, he's probably the least proficient.

Haha, word.

TJ is certainly a good rider. And his (former?) partner Kevin, who has progressed a lot over the years, has always showed his riding. Makes all the difference. It's that simple, really. Can you just show me who I'm supposed to be listening to?

I don't watch a lot of this stuff, it just happens when you're on le tube often. But I like snowboard robot. He's quite simple and straightforward, decent relatable footage, and realistic. Search of Snowboarding also proves to be quite a good rider. But then you have buckhouse et al....

Black snowboarder may have been the pinnacle

G.D. wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 10:52 am Think there's also the factor that he rides sizes sometimes that aren't a good match for him. I guess it's whatever each brand gives him vs being able to choose the more appropriate size for his preference and/or style of riding he's looking to do that time.

But yeah, don't think we'll ever see footy of his riding again. Likely to not risk tainting his "brand" 🤷🏻‍♂️.
In the case of the cheater for him, this means 170 regular or wide. I don't think he/Mats wouldn't take that into account.

Naturally, sometimes you can only get what you get, so maybe that's what happened.

Personally, I wish the regular 170 @ 260 was - perhaps - 265. I really don't think I would like the wide at 275.

Someone please pick up a 170 Cheater, realize it's too narrow for you, and sell it to me.

While you're at it, also grab a 158 Descender, realize it's too small for you, and sell it to me too.

OK, thanks :)

I didn't know easy rider carried them! Shipping is painful, but I'm not going to find a better price on it so.... Thanks... I think

Now can you conjure up a 158 descender?! lol

Also, Warren who owns Easy Rider is great.
