Noticed Rome’s higher end bindings have canting on the highbacks. Anyone utilized that?

anyone wanna talk about those supermatics? you have to at least romance the notion for certain resort days, no?

im struggling with the idea of stepins that you still need an ankle strap for.. i guess its besides the point, but still bugs me.

They just look like speed-Flows to me?

Not being stuck with a limited boot selection a la Step-On would be an advantage, and since they appear to emulate the traditional strap feeling you have the ride and adjustability that riders are used to. I don't see any reason to switch, but if I was buying new bindings and these were somehow lighter, better riding, or cheaper than I don't see why I wouldn't consider them?

I dialled it in on some Katana's a year or two back. Did I notice? No. Did I think I noticed? Maybe. Are you the type who rotates high backs? I imagine it would add some small level of comfort, but I don't see it ever being something needed. Unless of course you're rocking a Shaun White-esque stance width.

Didn't notice it at all... just seemed kinda gimmicky to me.

I suspect I'll own a set of Supermatics near-term future. I don't especially care about speed getting in and off the lift, but in the next 3-5 years I expect to be teaching a small child to snowboard, and the ability to quickly pop in and out without Flow- or StepOn-esque compromises would be awesome. Between that and a snow skate, I'm hoping I'm set.

Random comment after chatting with the regional Burton rep: apparently Flux is licensing Step On tech for bindings in Asia. I assumed Burton would only license boots compatible with their own bindings, but apparently they're licensing the binding tech as well.

Random comment after chatting with the regional Burton rep: apparently Flux is licensing Step On tech for bindings in Asia. I assumed Burton would only license boots compatible with their own bindings, but apparently they're licensing the binding tech as well.

I remember them saying they were going to license both boots and binding tech, but it was gonna be a slow roll out, boots first, then binding tech. They said they were willing to license it because they want to help grow the sport and/or help/keep older riders interested.

Obviously there would only be certain brands that it would work with, like no Unions since they’re not unibody.
