not sure if this is the right place to post…
According to Pulse Ratings Inc., Backcountry has been sold to CSC Generation, a roll-up of distressed retailers like Sur La Table, One Kings Lane and more. The transaction took place in August but has been kept very quiet. So what happened? Ultimately, BC fell victim to many of the same challenges facing the whole outdoor industry, combined with the ecommerce profitability squeeze created by ever-increasing marketing and shipping costs.

The entire write up and comments are worth a read imo.

My little love of BC died as they shed dogfunk and whiskymilitia where they'd cycle though sale stuff at steeper discounts than their normal sale prices every 20 minutes and then sprinkle in wild ass dollar deals on stuff throughout the day. I'd email them and ask them to put something up and they'd say "we don't control what comes up and when" and then *surprise surprise* the next thing that would come up would be waht I asked for. haha. Thank you whiskymilitia for all my O crowbars. They'd be like $35 a pair. bananas.

Back in the sierra days. The bootleg burton days.

Back in the 2008 collapse days.

Wish I could go back and ride that wave again. I'd do a few things differently.

I hang out in the Dealz thread just to chase the high I felt snagging some cheap gear from Sierra... I still remembering logging in daily for the raffle, and posting enough reviews to earn a free set of goggles.

Sierra was the best. I remember they’d routinely have 30-40% off coupons and a lot of times they’d stack. I basically spent all my money from my first big boy job on that website. Those Cartels I posted in the Dealz thread gave me flashbacks haha.

Back in the Sierra days Capita had such a small presence you could get incredible deals on them. I still have a couple banged up Snowboards of death in my attic from 2007-2008 I got off Sierra for I think less than $200 per. Good times
