It’s less about comparing, per se, and more about a deck with just a touch of taper, more centered reference stance and rides switch without being squirrelly.Spenser wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 2:01 pmTotally get it & not saying anyone shouldn't still want that in-between board, but the new TF is definitely different. If it were still using the old shape, I would also want something in between. For my taste, the new one does it, and there's no way I would have bought your old one if they weren't different enough. Just curious which one people are comparing when they make that comment, and if they've ridden the new onepow_hnd wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 1:53 pmEven the new TF has quite a bit of taper. I really have been desiring something like the Otto, but with just a touch of taper, enough to help in pow but not so much as to make the deck squirrelly riding switch. I also like a lot of sidecut. I know you prefer more open, but I like a butt load, which still a wider waist.
The Lynx checks all those boxes.
Curious on your continued thoughts as you get more time on these boards. They look rad

Re: The Official Cardiff Snowcraft thread
My TF is the new version, with 18 mils of taper if I remember correctly. And just to be clear, the new TF was positively spectacular in the pow on Saturday, so even if there was a board between the TF and Otto I'd stlll keep the TF, it was the perfect deck for that day and that particular terrain.
Having said that, for a legit pow day particularly out west, when it's from from knee to tits deep, my beloved Dart is always going get the call.
I also rode the Otto in the same conditions this weekend and it was a blast, but it was a ton of work to keep afloat in some of the lower angle pow in the trees. But I'm with @pow_hnd 100% on the design specs of a tweener though, the taper for me isn't just about float. I just like the way boards with a moderate amount of taper turn. I'm also a fan of sidecuts that are not extreme, but more on the tighter side than open. I've had two board with 8.5M + sidecuts and didn't jell with either one.

Makes sense! This is all I was curious about. I've definitely been liking the mild taper boards for a while now, and spend the vast majority of my days on them (until korua), so I get it. Anyway, back to Cardiff
Re: The Official Cardiff Snowcraft thread
Funny @pow_hnd , I remember mentioning earlier this season that one of my besties is a rep and you politely brushing them off .
Anyway, I got to spend some real time with the powgoda and the bonsai. The powgoda was fine and all, but didn't really do anything eye opening for me (honestly it was more excited about the moon buggy I acquired recently and wanted to ride that instead).
However, the bonsai, which in specs, shape, and ride is really comparative to the TF, was an absolute pleasure to ride. Very dampening, sliced through everything with ease, and could hold an edge for years,
I also got the peep their new model called the trick shaw wish my rep buddy said rides like an Otto. He was blasting some serious airs on it for our 50-plus old man club.

You're right, I'll own it, I said the brand didn't speak to me, marketing wise per se... BUT, then I demoed one and loved it and when I looked at the Lynx specs, it's exactly what I wished Korua would offer, then since I got to demo one for free because we lease them their retail space, here we are.
Another thing that happened is I went splitting with a homie that has a carbon Swell, he raved about it and when I picked it up, it was noticeably lighter than my Korua... I'm 50 now and anything I can do to make splitting easier, I'm gonna do.
So it was those three things that swayed me. The free demo, a good homies word and picking one up in hand.
At this point I wish I had demoed one earlier in the season.
At least I'm open to change I guess, so that's a good thing

Where are the Cardiff boards made? I couldn't find anything on their website.
Re: The Official Cardiff Snowcraft thread
GP87 afaik
Re: The Official Cardiff Snowcraft thread
Yes , GP87. They are all their own molds though. They don’t use any OEM/manufacturer molds at all.

Sweet to hear. I'd still love to try one.. definitely seems right up my alley. Perhaps what I'd hoped the shorty would be, but wasn't for me.
Re: The Official Cardiff Snowcraft thread
After a second day on the Lynx, I’m still sold for sure.
It was a decent pow day, 12” new since 3pm the day before, we rode inbounds till it was tracked then grabbed our vests and did 3 laps in the sidecountry at Brighton.
This deck is what I’ve been looking for. For the most part it rides like an old school directional deck, but with some new school features that add more fun and take less energy for the most part.
Since we all know I’m coming from Korua’s, here’s what differences are making an impact.
Rocker in both the nose and tail. Boy does it make bobsled runs so much easier to be lazy on and just less tiring. The rocker also makes this thing ride much better in pow than its traditional design shape, the rocker and 5mm of taper make this thing ride super well, in pow, even low angle. Never once did I have to muscle the deck through the flats, it rode every bit as easy as my PinTonic which has 31mm of taper, on groomers it held an edge and carved beautifully. While all the camber Korua’s have does make them hold an edge like crazy, it has times, like in pow when it’s not so advantageous. Don’t get it twisted, I’m not saying Korua’s don’t rip in pow, because they do rip in pow, but this Lynx rips as well, but with less effort and in a more traditional shape.
Ollies/sidehits on this thing are just fucking fun. It has mad pop, for sure more than Korua’s, and it’s much lighter which just makes it feel great in the air. Riding switch was super fun, the minimal taper makes it ride almost twin like, which I love. I even rode a good 500ft of vert shot switch in pow just to try it out, never would have happened on my PinTonic, for sure would have happened on the Otto, but it would have taken a lot more muscle with the amount of camber it has and no rocker in the tail.
Here’s the one negative. While the Lynx is not a deck that has no damping, it is for sure just not as stout and stable in the super chop as a Korua. There’s just no two ways about it. When that 12” new was all chunder at 1pm, the Lynx for sure took more muscle and my head on a swivel for line choice that a Korua just wouldn’t require. Thankfully, I don’t go looking to ride chunder, I just grab my vest and go out the gates and ride more pow, but when you need to ride through some, the Lynx just isn’t the same as a Korua.
In the end, that’s a trade off I can live with.
While quivering is fun, I’ve really come back to the realization and desire the last two seasons to really just have a single deck that I ride for 90-95% of my resort days, I wanted the Otto to be that deck and it was close, but just not quite 100% what I wanted. It’s amazing how much just 5mm more setback and 5mm of taper changes things.
While yes, I did buy a Powgoda as well, I really anticipate only riding it on the stupid huge storm cycles or when the pow has unfavorable conditions such as windboard, upside down or other substandard qualities, and of course it will be on my feet for cat/heli days, but resort riding looks to be happening on the Lynx from now on.
