Well, six years of exclusively riding Korua has come to an end.

I demoed the Lynx 159 on Tuesday and absolutely loved it.

The Lynx has the specs I wish the Otto had, 15mm of setback ( 5mm more than the Otto ) and 5mm of taper, with a tad more rocker in the nose and rocker in the tail. So basically everything I wished for in a daily driver with still a decent waist, 264mm on the 159.

This all came about with Cardiff leasing space from us in our building. Since we lease to them we get free demos. So I said no harm in trying a demo for free and just absolutely loved it.

Also as much as I love Korua and their ethos, I am frustrated by their very limited sizing. An email convo this winter made it clear they really aren't going to change that aspect of their business model and that they want to just come out with more crazy/fun shapes, which is cool for sure, but I kinda want more than just crazy shapes.

I was going to get to try a bonsai 58 recently, but conditions haven't been so hot since everything started freezing solid overnight, so I didn't bother. Probably the only board they make I'd be interested in

A friend has a powgoda.. looks beautiful, but feels way too soft for me. Gave me Shorty nose flashbacks, hah

When I rode the decks ( Otto - Lynx ) back to back on the same run, with a bobsled exit, while I had no qualms with the Otto, it was captain obvious that the Lynx was just easier to ride and less tiring. Then a few hikes to ride bottomless untracked pow and the Lynx killed it there too, kinda really sealed the deal.

Had I not been able to demo one for free I don’t think I’d be here today.

Oh that's just great... Over the last few weeks I've been thinking that my quiver is finally 100% perfect, and for the first time ever there are zero new boards on my radar for next season. But agreed on Korua's sizing, my Otto is a 157 which is fine for my weight and the typical terrain here in the east, but ideally I'd rather it was a 159. I know I'm splitting hairs but that's what we do around here.

And I also still think Korua needs a board that sits between the Otto and TF. I'm more convinced of that than ever after riding both of them back-to-back for 4 straight days during a miraculous spring storm that started Friday night and dropped between 24 and 36 inches of perfect pow on the summits.

The specs on the Lynx are interesting to me because it's an odd mix of a very wide waist but with a relatively tight sidecut, at least for the 159 anyway. I've never tried any of the conventional "volume shifted" boards, but that design aspect seems to be a thing these days. Many of them have really wide waists with really tight sidecuts. I'm not saying that the Lynx is one of those, just noting some commonality in the design idea.

To clarify, when you guys are saying "board between the Otto and TF," are you talking about the new TF? There's a bigger gap with the old one, so just curious.

Even the new TF has quite a bit of taper. I really have been desiring something like the Otto, but with just a touch of taper, enough to help in pow but not so much as to make the deck squirrelly riding switch. I also like a lot of sidecut. I know you prefer more open, but I like a butt load, with still a wider waist.

The Lynx checks all those boxes.

Totally get it & not saying anyone shouldn't still want that in-between board, but the new TF is definitely different. If it were still using the old shape, I would also want something in between. For my taste, the new one does it, and there's no way I would have bought your old one if they weren't different enough. Just curious which one people are comparing when they make that comment, and if they've ridden the new one
