We're about the same size, same height but I weight slightly less than you and I have a US10 foot. I do like to ride really fast but also hit jumps and side hits where possible. The 163 is defintely more fast & carving than jumping and it is really fun but I think the 168 would be a lot of board for a daily driver. I'm taking the 159 to the Alps on Sunday.

Well I guess FA is the closest to the older camber boards. I use a 168 from 2001, so it has like 250-260 ww and close to 9 m sidecut. Probably similar to Sensei 170, but I think edgehold is great. Maybe this one: https://www.love-snowboarding.com/shop/ ... p206851250. Probably not many left. Bit longer, but more bendy than then Cheater. The new version is wider. You also got stuff like Radical Surf at twice the price. Bet SG has something similar as well of the notsoraceboards. Burton should just make a Custom 170 "narrow/mid" with 530 stance or longer/full channel and some more setback, that would work.

I was looking for replacement for my way too small HTH 156, which will be HTH 165w, but FA 168 is even better on paper, longer EE , longer sidecut, narrower WW… :)

However big question is if FA 168 will have good dampening, as Sensei 170, or no dampening at all, as Straight Chuter 162? Both should have same construction, if someone choose to believe Burton, but cannot be more different in practice.

Also, will FA 168 have very good edge hold in icy conditions, like Leader Board or Straight Chuter, or no edge hold, like Sensei or Stun Gun (all with same edge tune)?

The sale on Burton's Europe site is only available for few more hours and I afraid that there is only one (expensive) way to find out answers to my questions. :?
I had an early flight attendant 162 - the yr the topsheet was swirly blue /green and have a first cut 160/
The first cut is way more aggressive/gnarly than the FA , its damp, thick and fast. Probably one of the stiffer boards i've been on in a long long time. Especially from Burton.
A proper big mountain charger. Not playful in anyway. Not a plank though, but more of a straight line plow thru everything charger. Its like a missile. The FA is/was much less aggressive (FA could have changed over the yrs)
I"m 6'1 190 on the FC 160.

Camber
So I went and got me one of them there..

Didn't want to ride it without some sparkly unicorncupcake X bindings, so it's still in the wrapper. Anyone got a picture of the appropriate binding for me?

Hmm, pic didn' follow, but was the barbiefish.

Thinking glitter/white base and mirror finish highback with pink stars and pink straps?

Turned out that oversized Flight Attendand 168 works perfectly as freecarving board and fortunately my biggest fears did not realize, it does have a very good edge hold in icy conditions and dampening is good. :D

It has a huge, basically full camber, over 10mm. :o Flex is medium-stiff, even when oversized. Handling is very easy as on all older Burton boards and as downside of this very easy steering geometry, it is not as “locked in”, as I prefer. Need to concentrate more on carving technique for edge hold. 8-)

Only problem with Burton boards is that Burton bindings cannot be centered, as adjustment in EST-disc is +- 11mm (useless), while adjustment on normal disc is +- 3mm.

I guess it was not fair to call Flight Attendand 168 medium-stiff for 83kg / 183lbs rider, softer than United Shapes Transmission 159 does not automatically means medium-stiff. :) It felt medium-stiff on icy groomers, but then we got couple inches of fresh snow and now it feels stiff.

FA 168 and Transmission 159 are now my favorite freecarving boards, both turns similarly (FA is a little bit turny) both are good in all conditions for freecarving, from icy to soft, both have vey good edge hold, both are very balanced to change turning radius, but still feels very different. Transmission has razor-sharp response, like racecar, while FA has very forgiving, easy handling like SUV. :) Neither is absolutely better, just different, let’s see, if oversized FA 168 has potential to challenge daily-driver status of Transmission 159 (here size is important, as I misuse the FA sizewise). 8-)

Today was the first day this season (90+ days so far) when I did not ride my Transmission, FA only. Surely, I was using other boards, but not single day I did not want to ride Transmission as well, until today. :)

Don’t know if it’s been posted yet but a super sick reissue from the early 2000s is coming out in July. Graphic glows in dark and was done by an iconic 80s/90s skater hint hint. 3 sizes this time unlike the first go around.

That’s the one. Comes in something around a 148, 156, and the original 161. Gotta imagine Mikey is on something custom bigger than a 161 given the sizes he usually rides.

Hopefully the reissue is a bit wider than the original and has a more reasonable sidecut. If I recall the 00s one was a sub 25 waist width and a sub 8 side cut on a 161. Makes some sense given it was designed as a slightly more directional custom/balance hybrid with a bit of taper and the custom and balance were the two boards Albin was riding the most at the time. I just selfishly want the 56ish one to be 25 to 25.4 waist with an 8 to 8.3 side cut (I know pipe dream for Burton specs). A bit of mellow early rise in the nose would be awesome and the same mellow taper (I think it was 10 or 12mm on the og) is great.
