I was at vail multiple times and also Beaver creek this yr - High end resorts for sure - and I don't remember seeing one person wearing anything from B/Mine 77 with the gender neutral box look
As someone over 6 ft this isn't going to work me.
That's why I have been wearing alot of ak stuff the past few years, the cuts change a bit yr to yr but they're timeless for the most part.

Exactly my point. You see the occasional person (if any) sporting this specific look, but yet it looks like a lot of next year's gear is trending towards this style (overly baggy, boxy, short cut).

I'm sure there's others. Granted, I know that there will still be some "normal" cut options available, but to me it just seems baffling to devote as many options to a style that will likely fade within a couple years. Especially when all brands are starting to promote the message of consuming less, recycling gear, etc. Why exert so much time and effort into a passing fad, when timeless options gets you to your promoted "goals"?

It sounds like that new Burton fit is gonna be in its own line. They’d be dumb to make all their AK jackets short and boxy.

All these brands and just chasing the 90s trend that’s so hot with the youths right now. It’s really cringy. Next in line to get recycled is the hesh kid/2000s emo girl pants look. I’d bet money on it.

Commercial reality of Dope / Montec taking away huge market share with fast fashion tactics. Snowboard outerwear was always trend chasing and fashion first, but I'm sure Instagram brands are putting renewed pressure on them.

It’s pretty much Rene’s fault. The funny thing is that any jacket can look short and boxy if you just cinch it at the bottom. So, I don’t really understand why they’re making entirely new cuts designed around it.

AK and the like will stay the same, that futuretrust or whatever is on its own. Same with AG. I feel like a few years ago you saw guys like Kuzyk, Jed, even Mcmo rocking the cinched bottom look. Dustbox after that. I see it all the time, but I’m not in a mountain town. When I was in Killington last year, most of the kids in the park (skiers and boarders alike) were doing that. Around here, tow rope crowd is doing that too if they aren’t just wearing a hoody.

I’ve rolled/cinched the bottom of a lot of my jackets just because I have a big fucking ass and I hate the feeling of a jacket getting sucked under my cheeks when doing grabs or crouching.

Granted my memory may be failing me at this point, but to my recollection the early 90s baggy look they're trying to capture with these cuts was accomplished without outerwear specifically designed to fit that way. People just wore stuff a few sizes bigger than what they actually needed.

I may be regurgitating the same frustrations I've already posted, but it just seems bizarre to actually design stuff for such a niche look and alienate a broader audience. Maybe I'm overlooking the "regular" fits in the catalogs I've seen, but it's definitely more than one or two items per brand that have that fit. Case in point... a healthy majority of Airblaster and L1 catalogs are the oversized, boxy fit. Plenty of other brands diving full on into this trend too, but I think you get my point.

Hopefully as some of you have stated there are going to be lines within some brands that cater to us that prefer to just have normal, well fitting gear.... and if you want that gear to fit slightly looser you just size up.

I can’t remember the last time I even considered buying AB/L1/etc.. probably back when slim pants were trendy lol.

This is the info I need.... what brands / lines within brands are still making "normal" cut jackets or even ones with a little extra length (preferred)? I don't mind a baggy fit even as long as the length is appropriate.

All of the most recent AK jackets fit great. Longer cut and not overly baggy. Easily my favorite. 686's articulated fit is pretty good, too, with a similar length to AK but ever so slightly wider. I really like the 686 GLCR GT jacket's fit and it reminds me a lot of my AK Cyclic. Volcom's standard fit reminds me a lot of 686's but maybe even a touch wider. Volcom also makes a droptail fit that I love, but they hardly offer it in any jackets these days. Their 91 fit is the shorter/wider style.

Might need to pick up whatever gear I can this season, while some stuff is still made in cuts I prefer. Looking through most of the catalogs for next year it's looking like short and boxy is the overwhelming majority. As far as Volcom, you are correct, their standard and drop tail options are few and far between.

The question I ask is, are there really that many people looking for this specific look (baggy, but short cut and cinch the waist so your jacket just balloons from your body) that a vast majority of gear is being designed this way? Seems like such a niche look to cater to.... but maybe I'm just old. Again I don't mind baggy, but this is just different.
