After four days of riding pow at Whistler, I can say that this thing rips. It's gonna be a while before I'm good enough to take full advantage of this board, but compared to the other boards in my quiver (a YES Libre 2020 and a Rossignol Sushi 2022) this feels like the best of both, and I'm definitely keeping it as a daily driver:

- Floats a lot better than the Libre, but not as well as the Sushi, obviously.

- It's way more stable than either of those two. It was able to straight line tracked out pow runs like a proper freeride board.

- It's fast. This thing wants to haul ass, and really rewards you when you push on the throttle, without forcing you to bring you A-game on every run. It's not a plank at lower speeds, but it's not going to do you any favors either.

- Unlike other freeride boards I've tried, this one has a good amount of torsional twist, and responds very well to more subtle knee and ankle initiation, which is actually something I've been working at, the last few days.

- For how directional it is, it has a very good amount of rebound. I suck at riding freestyle, but I can pop an ollie better and easier on this, than I ever could on the Libre, which is a directional twin. Not as poppy as the Mercury or the DOA, but for a freeride-ish deck, really solid.

- Haven't been able to carve much on it yet, but what little I've done, has me thinking it's going to be a hell of a lot of fun carving on groomer days. I've been having trouble with the tail washing out a little, but it's probably the conditions and that I'm still not fully used to it.

Conditions are going to be warm-and-freeze the next couple of days on Whistler, so I'm sure I'll get plenty of chances to test it in slush and ice.

Caved in and finally ordered a BSOD. Pics to follow when it shows up.

**Update**
Mounted up. Jones in my opinion has a better quality grain top sheet.

snapped my 161 aeronaut over the weekend. i had a few run ins with sharks and landed on one after a sizeable drop... not sure which one did it in.

i thought i had just ripped the base to the core, but after bringing it into my shop, we noticed the core was cracked through the top sheet. sad day.

absolutely love that deck and will be scooping a 24/25 next season.

My friend Evan is still snapping them. Broke his super DOA the other day. That's quite a few boards in the last 3 years. To be fair, he's not your average rider, but he's certainly not doing more than a pro, so I wonder if it happens to them.

@YukonCornelius FYI 24/25 Aeronaut is an early release if you want to get a head start on the replacement.

FWIW I broke a pre-Mothership 2015 BSOD which scared me off Capita for almost 10 years, but I'm pretty happy with how the Aero's held up so far. Showing wear and tear, but I've had a few shark encounters and nothing too noteworthy except minor bases gouges some case hardening on the edges. Granted only 6 days in, but I can usually tell by this point when a board's not specced for someone of my destructive potential.

With the late season coming, I think I'm going to sideline the Aero for now. Time to bust out a rock board that already has a coarse structure set in for spring slush. Probably the Rome Blur.

i snapped my OG horrorscope on the very first wallride i did on it. seems we all have stories! i am hard on my gear but my normal snapping is from sharks. thank you arapahoe basin and taos. both of those places have destroyed more equipment in my squad than anywhere else.

the early release is cool, but i don't feel like buying another deck this season with a wedding and honeymoon in a few months + starting my own business, and not to mention golf season is underway which is the all consuming vacuum of dollars.

i got 13 days on the aero and until it's death, it held up great and showed no damage. and i had hit a fair share of sharks before it's demise.

My thoughts on capita/snapita is that they're on the line of performance vs longevity when it comes to construction. There are way more 'bombproof' options, but they wont ride the same. Additionally, they may garner more than their fair share of the advanced riders, just due to that they seem to have taken that sort of premier spot in the echelon of board brands. But none the less, it comes down to construction. A bit thicker core, or ptex base, or more glass, or something something something and pretty soon you're riding a Never Sumerian.

For sure. They're constantly chasing lighter cores and other materials every season. I don't have data to prove it, but I'd guess that they pretty easily make the lightest boards out there easily and it's a good trade off IMO.
